Testimonials

The Falmouth (MA) Museums on the Green had the sincere pleasure of hosting Sophie Poldermans for a virtual talk. Her passion, devotion to the story, and dedication to "getting it right" was there for all to see. She told the story of Hannie Schaft, Truus Oversteegen and Freddie Oversteegen in a way that made the reader and listener understand, comprehend and grasp the realities of what life was like for those ordinary citizens whose countries were occupied by oppression--in this case, teenage girls dealing with the realities of Nazi soldiers living in their town. Sophie told a tale of courage, fortitude and devotion to country that made it easy to understand why she found these women so compelling when she first learned of them in her teens. Those in our audience were spellbound as Sophie told the tale of these women and her own dedication to finding out more about them. It was gripping to her Sophie talk of these women--two of which she came to know well--as people, not simply teen heroines. In a year in which COVID 19 has made programming so difficult, Sophie was spectacular in her virtual talk. The Falmouth Museums on the Green was proud to have Ms. Poldermans as a guest lecturer and we could not recommend her, or her book "Seducing and Killing Nazis", enough to those who wish to hear her speak and to read her words.

We had the pleasure to have Sophie as our guest speaker at the General Motors Women in Finance event which took place in May 2021.The topic about women and leadership is more relevant than ever as our company is striving for a more diverse and inclusive work environment. The story Sophie depicted from her book was so compelling and inspiring. We received great feedback from participants and I personally enjoyed Sophie’s passionate delivery of her message.
As takeaway, women don’t need to be in a position of power to exercise leadership as these heroines (from Sophie’s book) did. Our task is to find that warrior and power within ourselves!
Thank you, Sophie! It was an honor having you at our event!

Sophie is an incredible leader whose passion and commitment to empowering women led her to write the inspiring story of the 3 young women who formed resistance against the Nazis during WW2. She is one of the leading influencers and thought-provokers around the value of female leadership in tackling global challenges particularly as it relates to geopolitical conflicts. Sophie's voice is a powerful one in our world today and a force to be reckoned with, and a next-generation pioneer in what it means to be a compassionate and value-based leader.

I am grateful for Sophie’s participation as a panelist at our recent Women’s History Month celebration. Sophie shared her experience of women in leadership and the challenges women face in the workplace. Sophie’s energetic and dynamic style provided broader perspective on women’s plight for equality and how to support career advancement. Last year, I had the opportunity to meet Sophie while taking the Women’s Leadership program at the Yale School of Management. Sophie has a pleasant demeanor and engaging personality. I would recommend Sophie as a speaker for a group discussion or leadership conference.

I have had the pleasure of working with Sophie in my radio work. Sophie is responsive, supportive and approachable. She is clearly committed to illuminating the lesser-explored women’s history, amplifying marginalised voices and to securing a female interpretation of global history. Her commitment to the subject of the ‘Three Women’ since high school is reflective of her determination and ability to be inspired.

During the International Transitional Justice tour, Sophie Poldermans demonstrated high critical analytical skills while interrogating the history of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, and the mechanisms adopted to address its consequences, and at the same time, she was very compassionate while interacting with both the victims and suspected perpetrators. Her open-mindedness greatly benefited other members of the group. Second, with regard to teaching, it was great to observe her passion in sharing knowledge and mentoring young people, she is a very well organized and dedicated lecturer who pays special attention to all details of learning Poldermans demonstrated commitment to sharing knowledge and supporting a good learning environment. Third, her writings and continued dedication to promotion of women’s rights especially those of victims of conflicts are admirable. Poldermans has an exceptional commitment to higher values of human rights, diversity and respect for the dignity of others especially those who are most vulnerable. She is very efficient, optimistic, forwarding looking and pragmatic in proposing solutions that can better other people’s conditions.
